The Ohio State football team hosts one of the most difficult teams for a top-5 opponent to beat this year as the Buckeyes welcome No. 19 Purdue at 3:30 p.m. Saturday to Ohio Stadium.

Purdue has wins over a pair of top-three ranked teams — Iowa (No. 2 at the time) and Michigan State (No. 3 at the time) and the No. 4 Buckeyes will try to avoid the same fate against the pass-happy Boilermakers.

Despite the top-20 ranking and its track record this season against ranked opponents, Purdue enters the game as 21.5 point underdogs, according to Tipico.

Ohio State vs. Purdue: Ohio State football has its challenges against giant-killer Purdue

Maybe the point spread will be a motivating factor, but the Buckeyes may have an ax to grind, as well.

The last time Ohio State and Purdue played, the Boilermakers handed OSU its only loss of the 2018 season, a loss that would essentially eliminate the Buckeyes from the 2018 College Football Playoff in Urban Meyer's final season.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba keeps rolling, Ohio State 28-Purdue 7

A week after Jaxon Smith-Njigba's school record-setting 15 catches against Nebraska, the receiver has continued posting big plays. He has 4 receptions for 80 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown catch that capped a 75-yard drive in which all the yardage came through the air.

Master Teague out for Ohio State

The Buckeyes will be thinner on depth in the backfield with backup running back Master Teague sidelined.
