No. 3 Purdue basketball visits Maryland for what promises to be a tough Big Ten matchup.

The Boilermakers (23-3, 12-3) maintain a comfortable lead in the conference standings but have lost two of their past three games. The Terrapins (17-8, 8-6) are fighting for a top-4 spot in the standings, which would bring a double bye in next month's Big Ten tournament. Maryland is undefeated in Big Ten home games.

Purdue edged Maryland 58-55 in a Jan. 22 game in West Lafayette. ESPN's matchup predictor gives the Terrapins a 50.3% chance of winning tonight.

Purdue suddenly looks quite mortal, losing three of its past four games.

Maryland takes it to the Boilermakers in the second half and runs past them. The Terrapins are +13 in rebounds and +4 in free throw attempts, areas Purdue often dominates.

Jahmir Young scores 20 points, Hakim Hart 13 and Julian Reese 10 with 8 rebounds.

Braden Smith scores 15 of his 18 points in the first 22 minutes, and Zach Edey adds 18 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. The rest: 18 points.

Zach Edey, Purdue's 7-4 junior post player, is in contention for national player of the year honors. He averages 22.1 points, 13.2 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots per game, playing a team-leading 31.5 minutes. He is shooting 62.6% from the field and 74.2% on free throws.
