Live results: McNary softball advances, plus OSAA playoff scores
KEIZER – Ali Martinez and Madison Morse were the difference makers in No. 4-seeded McNary’s 9-2 playoff victory over North Medford on Wednesday.
“Top to bottom our lineup can hit,” McNary head coach Kelly Parsell said. “We’ve had a few that have been on-and-off, but they (Martinez and Morse) found it.”
Martinez, a sophomore, finished the afternoon 3-for-3 with a single and two home runs – a two-run shot in the fourth inning followed by a homer in the sixth.
Morse went 1-for-2 with a crucial two-run RBI single in the fourth, extending McNary’s lead to 5-2 at the time.
“Me and assistant coaches Kinsey (McNaught) and (Jamie) Vasas are trying to use our playoff experiences to support these girls and give them a feel for what it’s going to be like this postseason," Parsell said.
McNary will face No. 5 seed Sheldon in a quarterfinals game at home Friday.
