Saturday's OSAA results: 15 Mid-Valley wrestlers reach 6A/5A finals

A total of 15 Mid-Valley wrestlers made it to title matches Saturday at the OSAA state championships at Portland’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Among those advancing to the state finals are seven girls.

North Salem has two of the girls wrestlers — Mariko Sonis at 120 pounds, and Icela Sanchez-Rodriguez at 145 pounds.

Sanchez-Rodriguez will face fellow Salem-Keizer wrestler Reese Lawson, from West Salem, in the finals

McKay’s Sarahi Chavez reached the 209-pound final, Dallas’s Polly Olliff reached the 105-pound final, Woodburn’s Jasmine Lopez is in the 170-pound final, and McNary’s Ali Martinez reached the 190-pound title match.

On the boys side at 6A, South Salem and McNary each have a pair of finalists — the Saxons’ Anton Chacon (160) and Alex Decrozuc (220), and the Celtics’ Max Blanco (106) and Josh Friesen (170).

In 5A boys, Silverton has two finalists — Steven Powell (182) and Brash Henderson (220) — and Central has Ethan Dunigan (152), and Dallas has Carsen Atterbury (106).

Sprague’s Cole Steketee, No. 1 and the defending state champion at 285 pounds, was disqualified.

CLASS 6A

  • 106 pounds: Max Blanco (McNary) — had a bye in the first round, then won by TF to reach the quarterfinals, then won by fall to reach the semifinals, then won by TF to reach the finals; Ryder Nelson (West Salem) — lost 17-15 in the first round, then lost in consolation; Pedro Schay Vega (McNary) — lost by fall in the first round, then lost in consolation; Elijah Ezpeleta (Sprague) — lost 14-4 in first round, then lost in consolation.

  • 113 pounds: Aundre Chacon (North Salem) — had a bye in the first round, then won by fall to reach the quarterfinals, then won by fall to reach the semifinals, then lost by fall in the semifinals; Derek Jones (McNary) — lost by fall in the first round, then won by fall twice in consolation, then lost 10-1 in consolation; Joseph Barros (McNary) — lost 6-1 in the first round, then lost by fall in consolation.

  • 120 pounds: Tyler Bloomfield (West Salem) — won 10-2 in the first round, then lost by fall in the second round, then won by TF then lost 12-1 in consolation; Shane Parker (Sprague) — lost by fall in the first round, then lost by TF in consolation; Andres Alvarez (North Salem) — had a bye in the first round, then lost by fall in the second round, then lost by fall in consolation.

  • 126 pounds: Leo Gonzalez (McNary) — had a bye in the first round, then lost by fall in the second round, then lost by fall in consolation; Liam Koenig (McNary) — had a bye in the first round, then lost by fall in the second round, then lost by fall in consolation; RJ Chacon (North Salem) — lost by fall in first round, then won by fall and lost 8-7 in consolation.

  • 132 pounds: Griffen McCormick (South Salem) — lost by fall in the first round, then lost 16-7 in consolation; Camden Spragg (Sprague) — lost by fall in the first round, then won 6-0 and lost 6-3 in consolation; Andrey Cernev (Sprague) had a bye in the first round, then won 15-4 to reach the quarterfinals, then lost 10-7 in the quarterfinals, then won by fall in consolation.

  • 138 pounds: Seth Carp (Sprague) — had a bye in the first round, then won 8-4 to reach the quarterfinals, then lost 10-4 in the quarterfinals, then won 7-1 and by TF in consolation; Shawn Parker (Sprague) — lost 11-1 in the first round, then won 11-4 in consolation, then won by fall and lost 5-2 in consolation; Donovin Garcia (McNary) — won 3-2 in the first round, then lost by fall in the second round, then lost 11-4 in consolation.

  • 145 pounds: Nahaven Rose (North Salem) — lost by fall in first round, then won by fall twice and lost by TF  in consolation; Isaiah Manzo (McNary) — had a bye in the first round, then lost by fall in the second round, then lost 7-5 in consolation; Sullivan Puckett (Sprague) lost 3-1 in the first round, then won 3-1 and lost 3-2 in consolation.

  • 152 pounds: Josh Camillo (Sprague) — won by fall in the first round, then won 9-0 to reach quarterfinals, then won by fall to reach the semifinals, then lost 7-4 in the semifinals; Jake Bloomfield (West Salem) — won by fall in the first round, then lost by fall in the second round, then lost 4-3 in consolation; Anthony Thomas (McNary) — had a bye in the first round, then lost by fall in the second round, then won by fall and lost by fall in consolation.

  • 160 pounds: Anton Chacon (South Salem) — won by fall in the first round, then won by fall to reach the quarterfinals, then won by TF to reach the semifinals, then won by fall to reach the title match; Isaac Harrell (South Salem) — lost by fall in the first round, then won 13-8 and lost 10-6 in consolation; Trace Daniels (West Salem) — lost by fall in the first round, then lost by fall in consolation; Seamus Glade (Sprague) — lost by fall in the first round, then lost by TF in consolation.

CLASS 5A

  • 113 pounds: Jace Spencer (Dallas) — won 8-1 in the first round, then lost by fall in the quarterfinals, then won 6-4 and lost 6-2 in consolation; Joseph Maxfield (Dallas) — lost 5-0 in first round, then lost by fall in consolation.

  • 120 pounds: Ismael Flores (McKay) — won 6-4 in the first round, then lost by fall in the quarterfinals; Joseph Johnson (Dallas) — won 3-1 in the first round, then lost 9-1 in the quarterfinals, then won by fall and lost 8-4 in consolation.

  • 126 pounds: Jose Romero (Dallas) — won 8-0 in the first round, then won due to injury to advance to the semifinals, then lost by fall in the semifinals; Sully Hill (Dallas) — won 12-2 in the first round, then lost by fall in the quarterfinals, then won 15-2 and lost 9-3 in consolation.

  • 132 pounds: Andrew Craven (Dallas) — won 9-2 in the first round, then won 11-2 to reach the semifinals, then lost 3-2 in the semifinals; Bo Zurcher (Silverton) — won by fall in the first round, then lost 6-4 in the quarterfinals, then won by TF and 2-1 in consolation; Garet Flores (McKay) — lost 13-4 in the first round, then lost 8-2 in consolation.
