Now is the time for the Miami Hurricanes to finish strong.
Having taken it on the chin against cross-state rival Florida State last Saturday, 45-3, the 'Canes (4-5 overall, 2-3 ACC) are hoping to get back into bowl eligibility but face an uphill climb against Clemson and may find it tough going against feisty Pittsburgh in the last two games of the season.
That makes Saturday's road game against Georgia Tech (4-5, 3-3) even more critical. Miami needs a lot of players to bounce back after getting routed by FSU, not the least of whom is quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who went 4-for-8 for 24 yards and showed he may have come back from a shoulder injury too soon.
Should Van Dyke falter or be ruled out, look for either Nick Garcia or Jacurri Brown under center – Garcia led the 'Canes to an OT win over Virginia; Brown showed playmaking ability against the Seminoles, mostly with his legs.
The Yellow Jackets are coming off a 28-27 win over Virginia Tech in which they came back from an 11-point deficit, as the defense came up with three fourth-quarter turnovers. From there, freshman quarterback Zack Pyron made the Hokies pay, throwing a long touchdown pass and scoring the game-winner on 9-yard run.
