Live shows starring David Copperfield, Carrot Top and other headliners to reopen in Las Vegas next month

Las Vegas entertainment conglomerate MGM Resorts is betting that the return of live shows will bring in audiences.

The company announced Tuesday that seven shows are set to reopen in Sin City on Nov. 6, including performances by David Copperfield, Jabbawockeez and Carrot Top, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

This will mark the first time since mid-March that MGM’s live entertainment will be open on the Las Vegas Strip.

Casino resorts were among the many entertainment operations that temporarily closed earlier this year in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The other performances slated to reopen on Nov. 6 are Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club, the “Fantasy” show at Luxor, the Australian Bee Gees and Thunder From Down Under.

With an eye toward safety, organizers are moving the “Fantasy” show and the performances headlined by Jabbawockeez, Garrett and Carrot Top to larger rooms than what have been used in the past.

Safety guidelines at the shows include the enforcement of face masks, limiting audiences to 250 people and ensuring the crowd is at least 25 feet away from performers.

“Entertainment is such a pillar of what we do in Las Vegas, and for us to put our thousands of employees who work on these shows back to work,” MGM honcho George Kliavkoff told the Review-Journal. “I would say we’re in a unique, good position as MGM Resorts because we have so many venues that were able to take shows that can’t open up in their existing venues because of the 25-foot rule, and still open them successfully."
