After putting on an electrifying show for the crowd at American Family Field each of the last two days, someone must have turned off the power on the Milwaukee Brewers offense for the series final against the Chicago Cubs.

Chicago starting pitcher Marcus Stroman carved up the Brewers lineup over seven scoreless innings Sunday afternoon to help the Cubs avoid a sweep and snap Milwaukee’s win streak at five games with a 2-0 win.

In taking each of the first two games of the series, the Brewers blasted nine home runs and scored 20 runs, showcasing some of their best offense of the season.

BOX SCORE: Cubs 2, Brewers 0

Stroman kept them dormant, however, allowing only two hits and one walk while striking out five.

Brewers starter Corbin Burnes was perfect for 4 ⅓ innings before Patrick Wisdom’s mammoth homer to left-center made it 1-0, Cubs.

Chicago added a run in the sixth on a two-out rally. Alfonso Rivas hit an infield single against the shift and scored on Seiya Suzuki’s RBI double down the third-base line.

Burnes’ final line read: Seven innings, four hits, two runs, one walk and 10 strikeouts.

He became only the second Brewers pitcher ever to record three consecutive double-digit strikeout games, joining Yovani Gallardo.

Stroman entered with an 0-3 record and 6.98 ERA but looked like the version of himself that had a 3.12 ERA over the previous two seasons.

He faced only one batter over the minimum thanks to inning-ending double plays in both the first and second.

Through five starts, the Brewers have given Burnes only nine runs of support, leading to a 2-3 record in his outings despite owning just a 1.93 ERA.

David Robertson earned the save by recording the game's last four outs.

The best rally opportunity for the Brewers all day came in the bottom of the eighth after Stroman had exited. Rowdy Tellez led off with a walk against reliever Rowan Wick and moved to second on Omar Narvaez's single with one out. But Wick struck out Tyrone Taylor and Robertson entered to fan Jace Peterson and end the inning.

Milwaukee’s record now sits at 15-8.
