The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Minnesota Vikings 27-20 on Sunday in a game that featured some late drama. And some early, drama, too.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce appeared to sustain a first-half foot or ankle injury — and he went back to the locker room just before halftime. But he returned to make a crucial touchdown reception for KC.

Patrick Mahomes, meanwhile, pulled off the NFL opponent sweep, as he now owns wins over the other 31 NFL franchises following his first game against the Minnesota Vikings. He made several important throws in a bounce-back outing from last week’s down performance against the Jets.

The passing offense was solid, the defense was timely, and the Chiefs survived another close game in a season that has featured a few already.

Up next, Kansas City (4-1) will meet the Denver Broncos in a 7:15 p.m. showdown on Thursday Night Football. The Broncos fell to 1-4 with a loss to the New York Jets on Sunday.

In an odd schedule quirk, two of the Chiefs’ next three games will be against the Broncos, who have not defeated the Chiefs since 2015.

Here’s how the Chiefs-Vikings game unfolded, with real-time updates and commentary...
