4:41 p.m.

JAX Airport will receive incoming flights this evening and resume normal operations tomorrow, August 31st. For the most up-to-date flight information or help rebooking, contact your airline directly.

1:38 p.m.

Jacksonville Country Day School will reopen and resume normal schedules tomorrow.

12:22 p.m.

The Sidney Lanier Bridge over Brunswick/Turtle River in Glynn County is closed to traffic, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

12:06 p.m.

St. Johns County has lifted the mandatory evacuation order, effective immediately. storm shelter will be closed at 2 p.m.

11:06 a.m.

Hurricane Idalia was downgraded to a Category 1.

10:39 a.m.

As of 10 a.m. Clay Electric reported 1,385 Putnam County customers with outages and FPL reported 870, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said.

10:33 a.m.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office said 42% of Clay Electric customers in the county are without power. As of 10 a.m., no FPL customers were reported to be without power, but there are power lines down in Lake Butler.

10:05 a.m.

At this time, 75.84% of Columbia County is without power, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said. Crews are staged to begin restoration once it is safe.

9:01 a.m.

About an hour after making landfall, Hurricane Idalia is now a Category 2.

8:24 a.m.

JTA has resumed service and has five vehicles providing service between the four pickup locations and the City of Jacksonville shelters.

The four pickup stations are as follows:

  • Fletcher High School

  • Mayport Middle School

  • Baldwin Middle School

  • Jacksonville Beach Elementary

Glynn County is under a tornado warning until 8:15 a.m.

7:49 a.m.

Hurricane Idalia makes landfall as a Category 3 in the Big Bend area.

7:29 a.m.

Camden and Glynn counties are under a tornado warning until 7:45 a.m.

7:15 a.m.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority has suspended all services on Wednesday. JTA said it anticipates Fixed Route, First Coast Flyer, Skyway, Express Select, ReadiRide and Paratransit services to resume tomorrow (8/31) with the St. Johns River Ferry returning this weekend. Hurricane Idalia becomes a Category 4 storm.
