Greater Miami Conference

  • Fairfield 34, Colerain 7 - FINAL

Fairfield continues to be one of the early-season darlings as the Indians moved to 3-0 and beat Colerain for the first time since 1999. Quarterback Talon Fisher entered Week 3 as the GMC's leading rusher and he'll remain atop the conference stat-sheet after running for 145 yards and three touchdowns Friday night (all in the first half). Jordan Jackson was Fairfield's leader on the ground, though, running for 174 yards and a score on 28 attempts. Fairfield's defense allowed just 146 total yards and held Colerain to 0-for-7 on third down. The Cardinals' lone bright spot came in the second quarter when quarterback Zae Jennings raced for a 37-yard touchdown.

  • Princeton 71, Lakota East 0 - FINAL

Princeton scored 50 first half points on their way to another dominant win, scoring a program-record 71 points. Riley Woods totaled 134 yards from scrimmage (53 rushing, 81 receiving) on just five touches as the Vikings racked up nearly 600 yards of total offense yards. Quarterback R.J. West has now thrown three touchdowns and zero interceptions in three-straight games to start the year after finishing 8-of-11 for 192 yards. The senior found Woods for two touchdowns and Dorian Williams for the other. On the ground, Deandre Rutherford had a game-high 102 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries. Defensively, Princeton allowed only 76 total yards and forced a pair of Thunderhawk turnovers.

Hamilton moved to 2-1 after a dominating defensive effort Friday night. The Big Blue permitted just 143 total yards, held Middletown to 0-for-10 on third down and forced three turnovers, two of them coming on interceptions from Marlon Reed. Sophomore defensive tackle Trey Verdon had seven tackles (3.5 for a loss, including a sack), then forced and recovered a fumble. Hamilton, despite being held under 200 yards of offense themselves, got another big game from running back Semaj Aldridge. The senior ran 18 times for 87 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown to put the game away with 5:39 left in the fourth quarter. Aldridge also caught a 32-yard touchdown from quarterback Nicholas Lindsay in the second quarter to open the game's scoring.

The Warriors got out to a fast start and never looked back in their win over West Clermont. Vance George recorded two touchdowns through the air and one on the ground, and Trey Cornist added 127 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Chris Henry Jr. caught both touchdowns for West Clermont.

Greater Catholic League-South

  • Fairmont 10, La Salle 3 - FINAL

A battle of two undefeated clubs was dominated by defense and came down to the wire as a last-second La Salle drive came up short and Fairmont left with a 3-0 record on the year. Both teams were held under 200 total yards with no points scored in the second half. Fairmont quarterback Drew Baker provided the game's only touchdown with a three-yard run in the second quarter which proved to be the game-winner. Baker ran 32 times for a game-high 113 yards. La Salle's offense was led by Zander Bernecker, who had eight catches for 81 yards while Jaylen Grant led the Lancers' rushing attack with 42 yards on nine carries. La Salle hosts Louisville Trinity in Week 4.

  • Elder 21, Springboro 20- FINAL

While the Elder Panthers marched down the field and took a 7-0 lead after the game’s first possession at Springboro, the outlook seemed bad from there. Springboro consistently stopped Elder’s offense in its tracks and with the ball, scored three times for a 20-7 lead in the third quarter. Springboro quarterback Evan Ruzzo tied the game in the second quarter with a 22-yard completion to Maxim Butler before taking a 14-7 lead with just 16 second until the half on a touchdown pass to Cade Lamb. Springboro got the ball after the half and Willizhaun Yates went 80 yards to the house, but the important extra point was missed. Trailing 20-7, Elder cut the lead to 20-14 on a Luke Flowers run before taking a 21-20 lead with 3:41 left in the third on a run by Ben Schoster and the extra point by Max LeMasters. Springboro stuffed Elder on fourth down with 1:06 left in the game and a chance to win, but only mustered 26 yards, falling short on a 40-yard final effort.

The Eagles opened week three with a victory over Holy Cross on Thursday night. Bennie Hill led the way with 184 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Dasani Lane threw for 137 yards and three touchdowns to three different receivers. Javier Ward scored both touchdowns for Holy Cross while accruing 104 receiving yards. The game was called after three quarters due to an unsafe light condition at Scott's field, per Holy Cross statistician Pete Manczyk.

Walton-Verona is 3-0 for the first time since 2018 after a big second half helped the Bearcats rally Friday night in Dry Ridge. Walton-Verona trailed by a score in the second half, but Braden Daniels' 72-yard touchdown run tied it up at 14-14. The Bearcats took the lead for good on the first play of the fourth quarter when quarterback Jackson Smith broke off a 28-yard touchdown run. Daniels and Smith combined for 204 yards and three touchdowns on just 22 attempts. Landon Fulgham led the Grant County offense with 96 yards and a score on 21 carries.

Holmes trailed 8-0 at the half Friday night when Boone County quarterback Jamarion Hocker found Tyler Whipple for a 29-yard touchdown and two-point conversion for the only points of the first half. The Bulldogs bounced back, though, behind Curtez Hill, who started and ended the second-half scoring with touchdown runs to move Holmes to 2-1 on the year. Hill finished with 192 yards on the ground. Holmes took its first lead of the game in the fourth quarter when Miguel Garcia found Dawoo Holtman on a two-yard touchdown toss.

For the fifth time in the last seven meetings, the Covington Catholic-Lexington Catholic meeting was decided by one possession. On Friday, the Colonels squeaked out a one-point victory when Tyler Rennekamp ran for a three-yard touchdown with 3:35 remaining in regulation and Andrew Weitzel knocked in the go-ahead extra point. Covington Catholic quarterback Evan Pitzer totaled a game-high 97 rushing yards on 21 attempts. Tate Kruer forced and recovered a fumble for the Colonels and Josh Flood had an interception.
