High School football regional quarterfinal scores: Massillon, McKinley win big, Green knocks off North Canton Hoover
One week into the expanded Ohio High School Athletic Association football playoffs produced no major surprises for the Stark County qualifiers. In fact, in games featuring area teams, only No. 9 Poland beating No. 8 Fairless was an upset, according to the seeds.
The result: Four Stark County teams remain alive in the postseason along with assorted other area teams, including Green, Malvern and unbeaten West Branch.
This week's regional quarterfinals are highlighted locally by two Federal League rematches of recent games, Jackson at McKinley and Green at Hoover.
McKinley won at Jackson in Week 8, handing the Polar Bears their first loss of 2021. Hoover won at Green in Week 9, helping the Vikings clinch what became an outright Federal League title.
