Game recap: Miami Dolphins complete historic comeback in Baltimore

BALTIMORE — The Miami Dolphins faced their first road test of the season today.

And what a test it was.

The Dolphins played the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium, a facility in which they've never won.

The Ravens, long known for their physical style, presented a particular challenge to Miami's offensive line, which made adjustments after right tackle Austin Jackson was placed on injured reserve.

4:22 p.m. | Dolphins complete epic comeback in Baltimore

Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins have completed a historic rally, downing Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens 42-38 in Baltimore in Week 2.

The Dolphins (2-0) trailed by three touchdowns at halftime and at a separate point in the second half, but completed four straight scoring drives to cap the biggest rally in franchise history.

Tagovailoa set Dolphins records with 469 passing yards and six touchdown passes. Jaylen Waddle caught 11 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns while Tyreek Hill caught 11 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns.

4:15 p.m. | Dolphins take lead late in fourth

The comeback is complete.

The Dolphins offense completed a fourth consecutive scoring drive as Tua Tagovailoa found Jaylen Waddle in the end zone for a go-ahead touchdown with just 14 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.

Tua Tagovailoa has thrown six touchdowns, including two to Jaylen Waddlen and two to Tyreek Hill.

4:10 p.m. | Justin Tucker hits field goal to give Ravens lead

The Miami defense stopped Jackson and the Ravens offense in Dolphins territory, forcing a long Justin Tucker field goal to give the Ravens a 38-35 lead in the fourth quarter.

The Dolphins have two timeouts with less than two minutes remaining in the fourth.

3:57 p.m. | Dolphins storm back to tie game

Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill have connected on back-to-back long touchdown passes to bring the Dolphins back even at 35-35 after trailing by three touchdowns in the second half.

Tyreek Hill has 160 receiving yards and two touchdowns while Tua Tagovailoa has thrown for a career-high 429 yards and five touchdowns.

The Dolphins offense has sustained multiple long drives this game, capping their latest with a short Tua Tagovailoa touchdown pass to River Cracraft. Tagovailoa has 308 passing yards, 3 touchdowns and a passer rating of 99.5 against the Ravens.

Baltimore leads 35-21 with 12:12 remaining in the fourth quarter.

3:23 p.m. | Lamar Jackson explodes for long touchdown run

The Ravens star quarterback has now accounted for 346 total yards, including 79 explosive rushing yards on a read-option keeper through the heart of the Dolphins defense.

Lamar Jackson ended the drive with a perfect passer rating and more than 100 rushing yards.

The Ravens star quarterback has now accounted for 346 total yards, including 79 explosive rushing yards on a read-option keeper through the heart of the Dolphins defense.

Miami now trails Baltimore 35-14 in the final seconds of the third quarter.

The Dolphins offense offers signs of life with a long touchdown to open the second half. On third down, Tagovailoa found a leaping Mike Gesicki in the back of the end zone to bring the Dolphins' deficit to 28-14 early in the third quarter.

Ravens fans bellowed for an official review of Gesicki's catch as the tight end's second foot was very close to end line on the touchdown.

2:35 p.m. | Tua interception leads to Lamar Jackson's third touchdown

Ravens defensive back Marcus Williams intercepted Tagovailoa for a second time this first half, setting the stage for another long Lamar Jackson-led touchdown drive.

Jackson's third touchdown pass of the half found Marcus Robinson as Baltimore built a 28-7 lead just before half. Jackson has a perfect passer rating (158.3) and is 11 of 13 passing for 210 yards and three scores.

2:15 p.m. | Lamar Jackson finds Mark Andrews for touchdown

The Ravens have extended their advantage to 21-7 after another long drive coordinated by quarterback Lamar Jackson. After a long pass to Andrews was ruled down at the 1-yard line by review, Jackson hit Andrews on the next play for the touchdown.

Miami takes over with just over four minutes remaining to halftime.

1:56 p.m. | Lamar Jackson throws 75-yard touchdown

The tie game did not last long as Lamar Jackson hit Rashod Bateman on a quick slant, allowing the speedy receiver to outrun the Dolphins secondary.

Baltimore leads 14-7 early in the second quarter.

1:50 p.m. | Jaylen Waddle scores to bring Dolphins even

Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle connected multiple times in a 6-play, 94-yard drive to tie the game at 7-7 in the second quarter.

After the Ravens failed to convert fourth-and-goal from the Miami 1, Tagovailoa hit Waddle for a drive-changing 63-yard pass into Ravens territory.

The pair then connected on a well-blocked screen on the scoring play. 7-7, second quarter.

1:35 p.m. | Lamar Jackson leads grinding Ravens drive to no avail

The Dolphins can't get Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense off the field. Baltimore led a nearly 11-minute drive down to the Miami 1-yard line to bleed out the first quarter.

Baltimore appeared to convert third-and-goal with a Lamar Jackson touchdown run seconds into the second quarter, but Jackson was deemed short after review.

On the 18th play of the drive, the Ravens attempted to quarterback sneak under center, but they fumbled, leading to a turnover on downs. Miami takes over inside its 10-yard line trailing 7-0 second quarter.

1:13 p.m. | Tua Tagovailoa intercepted on first drive

A promising opening drive ended in a turnover as Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa forced a pass to Tyreek Hill in coverage. The deflected pass was intercepted by Ravens defensive back Marcus Williams, Tagovailoa's first of the 2022 season.

Boynton Beach High graduate Lamar Jackson is onto the field for the first time with the Ravens leading 7-0 early in the first quarter.

1:03 p.m. | Devin Duvernay returns opening kickoff for Ravens touchdown

The Miami Dolphins fall behind immediately.

Devan Duvernay returned the opening kickoff 103 yards nearly untouched to give the Ravens an instant 7-0 lead.

12:45 p.m. | Ravens honor Tony Siragusa

The Baltimore Ravens honored former player and NFL broadcaster Tony Siragusa in pregame festivities. Siragusa, who played for the Ravens from 1997-2001, winning a Super Bowl in his final year, died at 55 this offseason.

11:30 a.m. | RB Myles Gaskin, RB J.K. Dobbins are inactive for Dolphins-Ravens game

Running back Myles Gaskin is inactive for the Dolphins-Ravens game.

He was not listed on the injury report.

Cornerback Noah Igbinoghene, a former first-round draft pick who was inactive last week, will be in uniform.

Two inactives were expected. Tight end Cethan Carter is in concussion protocol and linebacker Channing Tindall has an illness.

Also inactive: quarterback Skylar Thompson, tight end Hunter Long and receiver Erik Ezukanma. Long has an ankle injury.

Ravens starters who will be inactive today are running back J.K. Dobbins and tackle Ronnie Stanley.
