RECAP: Middleboro (Team New England) plays LLWS opener vs. Southeast Region
After clinching four championship titles to cap a lifetime's worth of epic baseball tales this summer, the dream finally came true: the youth baseball pride of Middleboro arrived in Williamsport for the Little League World Series.
From here, the opponents only get tougher. And the stage, it hasn't been this grand since 1994 -- Middleboro's last trip to the LLWS.
“I told the coaches in the dugout – this whole thing feels like a dream," manager Chad Gillpatrick said after the regional title win last week. "I kind of had to shake myself and pinch myself to make sure it's not. We're still alive."

Middleboro, which now stands as Team New England, played the Southeastern Region (Nolensville Little League from Tennessee) in the tournament opener at 3 p.m. on ESPN.

Team Southeastern, which is represented by Nolensville, Tennessee, defeats Team New England (Middleboro), 5-3, in the opening round of the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Sixth inning
Tennessee 5, Middleboro 3.
Tennessee's Nash Carter strikes out two of the final three batters to seal the win.
Tennessee's William Satinoff (single), Jack Rhodes (double) and Drew Chadwick (walk) load the bases with two outs. A pop-out to Jayden Murphy at shortstop ends the inning, Tennessee strands three base-runners.
Fifth inning
Tennessee 5, Middleboro 3.
Tennessee center fielder Grayson May makes a diving grab to steal a base hit away from Middleboro's Gavin Gillpatrick.
Middleboro pitcher Joe Monteforte ends the inning with two strikeouts, picking right up where he left off.
After two hours and 28 minutes spent in a weather delay, play has resumed.

With a highlight grab, Tennessee third baseman Drew Chadwick robs Jayden Murphy of a hard-hit line drive hit to end the inning. Middleboro leaves the bases loaded.
Luke Bolduc beats out a throw, which avoided an inning-ending double play, to bring across a run.
Tennessee pitcher Trent McNeil exits after 52 pitches. His line: 3 ⅓ innings, six hits, two runs and one walk. Right-hander Nash Carter comes in.
A trio of Middleboro pinch hitters -- Nathan Mello, Joe Monteforte and Shawn Miller -- knock base hits, loading the bases with one out in the inning.
Third inning
Tennessee 5, Middleboro 2.
A shallow swing by Mike Marzelli sparks a wild base-running flurry that plates both Luke Bolduc and Jayden Murphy after each reached base on base hits.
After loading the base paths again, a single up the middle by William Satinoff brings two more runs across for Tennessee.
Middleboro pitcher Jayden Murphy is relieved by right-hander Joe Monteforte after 64 pitches. Murphy's line: 2 ⅓ IP, five hits, three runs, three walks and four strikeouts.
Tennessee loads the bases with a walk, hit-by-pitch and single. Josiah Porter flies a 2-RBI single into left field to score Bo Daniel from third and Wright Martin from second.
