STARKVILLE — Mississippi State women's basketball steamrolled over McNeese State on Wednesday, but the next game will be more challenging.
The Bulldogs hit the road to face Oklahoma in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Saturday (2 p.m., MSU Radio Network).
The Sooners (6-1) are coming off a three-game winning streak, dispatching Buffalo, Minnesota and SMU after a loss to No. 9 Oregon. Oklahoma has four players averaging double-digit scoring totals so far, with guards Taylor Robertson and Ana Llanusa leading the way, with 19 and 18.1 points per game, respectively.
"I know they shoot a lot of threes," Mississippi State women's basketball interim coach Doug Novak said. "They are flying up and down, and when you're on the road, your conversion defense is everything. Just because the excitement in someone else's gym, and they like to run."
The Bulldogs were led by forward Rickea Jackson against McNeese State, posting a career-high 40 points with nine rebounds. Guard Anastasia Hayes scored 15 points with eight rebounds and seven assists, too.
