Nashville Predators' Matt Duchene week-to-week after leaving loss against Maple Leafs

The injuries continued to pile up for the Nashville Predators on Sunday during a 3-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Bridgestone Arena.

Predators forward Matt Duchene left the game less than six minutes into the second period and did not return. He skated toward the bench holding up his left hand after it was hit with a shot. Predators coach John Hynes said after the game that Duchene is week-to-week with a lower-body injury.

Predators captain and defenseman Roman Josi, defenseman Alexandre Carrier and forwards Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen and Juuso Parssinen all remained out with injuries.

Kevin Lankinen started in goal for the Predators in the second game of a back-to-back.

John Tavares' power-play goal with 1 minute, 54 seconds remaining in the first gave the Maple Leafs a 1-0 lead. Alexander Kerfoot's score 1:02 into the second made it 2-0 in favor of the visitors.

Cody Glass' power-play goal with 7:23 left in the third cut the Predators' deficit in half. But another power-play goal from Tavares with 4:51 remaining. Tyson Barrie made it 3-2 with 1:42 left in the third.

Nashville was coming off a 7-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Saturday in which former Predator Eeli Tolvanen scored two goals.

The Predators remained five points out of the second wild-card spot with three games in hand in the Western Conference.

Nashville is 36-27-8. Toronto is 43-30-9.
