The Nashville Predators looked to score a victory Thursday night against the Seattle Kraken at Bridgestone Arena in the first of two meetings in three days between the teams.

The result was a 2-1 shootout victory.

The Kraken took a 1-0 lead 2 minutes, 28 seconds into the first period on Daniel Sprong’s score.

Kiefer Sherwood evened the score 1-all with 5:59 remaining in the second period.

The Predators again were without Roman Josi, Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen, Juuso Parssinen and Alexandre Carrier, all suffering from various injuries.

Predators goalie Juuse Saros made 28 saves and stopped both shots he saw in the shootout.

Predators coach John Hynes said Forsberg's progress with his upper-body injury has stagnated. He hasn't played since Feb. 11, though he has been listed as day-to-day since.

"Forsberg was progressing and then he stagnated," Hynes said Thursday morning. "There's no timeline (for his return) right now. He was on track, skating. He came on the last road trip and just stagnated. ... He's not there yet, and his progress came to a halt."

Former Predator Eeli Tolvanen faced his former team for the first time since he was claimed off waivers by the Kraken on Dec. 12.

The Predators were coming off a 7-3 victory Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres.

Nashville is 36-26-8 and five points behind the Winnipeg Jets for the second wild card spot. The Kraken are 39-24-8 and hold the top wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

On Saturday the Predators will unveil a statue of former goalie Pekka Rinne outside the arena before their game against the Kraken.
