LeBron James hits game-winner in NBA All-Star Game

LeBron James called game in Cleveland.

Leading 161-160, and needing to get to the target score of 163 to win it, LeBron James hit a fadeaway jumper over two defenders to win it for Team LeBron. James finished with 24 points, six rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

Steph Curry finished with an even 50 points on 16 3s and was named the game's MVP.

Team LeBron raised $450,000 for the Kent State I PROMISE Scholar Program. Team Durant raised $300,000 for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

Darius Garland finished with 13 points, three assists and two steals. Jarrett Allen had 10 points, nine rebounds and two blocks.

10:45 p.m.: Steph Curry just hit the 50-point mark with a floater.

Team LeBron, Team Durant tie in third quarter of NBA All-Star Game

Team LeBron and Team Durant tied the third quarter, 45-45, meaning they'll each earn $50,000 for their respective charities. The two charities — Kent State I PROMISE Scholar Program and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank — both are at $300,000 raised tonight thus far.

10:28 p.m.: Steph Curry has a ridiculous 45 points on 15 3s. Those 15 3s are an All-Star record.

10:17 p.m.: Steph Curry just about can't miss tonight. He just hit back-to-back 3s from the logo, then hit a third 3 from a more traditional range. On the second long 3, Curry turned around as soon as it left his hand. He has 39 points and 13 3s already. He's the clear frontrunner for MVP at the moment.

9:20 p.m.: Steph Curry has poured in 24 points. He's 8-of-11 from 3-point range.

Team Durant, though, wins the second quarter 49-46, securing an extra $100,000 for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

9:12 p.m.: If you got extra points for style, Team Durant would be up by a million.

Ja Morant again throws down a highlight-reel dunk, this one a 360, on an alley-oop pass from Trae Young. Team Durant leads the second quarter 41-33. The score resets each quarter.

9:05 p.m.: Darius Garland has a team-high 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor. Devin Booker has a game-high 16.

Team LeBron wins first quarter, extra $100,000 for Kent State I PROMISE program

Team LeBron won the first quarter 47-45 largely thanks to two 3s in the final two minutes from Luka Doncic. That means Team LeBron raised an extra $100,000 for Kent State's I PROMISE scholar program.

Both teams started with $150,000 raised for their respective charities, meaning Team LeBron now has $250,000. Team Durant is playing for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

8:45 p.m.: Jarrett Allen scores the first Cavaliers-related points of the night via an alley-oop dunk. Team Durant has a 38-36 lead.

8:44 p.m.: As did Zach LaVine, who finishes with a 360.

8:42 p.m.: Joel Embiid just threw down a better dunk — a windmill — for Team Durant than anything we saw last night in the dunk contest.

8:30 p.m.: We have the first highlight-reel play of the night, an alley-oop from Trae Young to Ja Morant, who finished it with a reverse dunk.

Team LeBron has an early 23-18 lead midway through the first quarter. James also brought back his signature chalk toss to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse prior to the game. The toss drew a loud ovation.

Chris Paul named inaugural recipient of Kobe & Gigi Bryant WNBA Advocacy Award

The WNBA announced on Sunday that 12-time All-Star guard Chris Paul was named the inaugural recipient of the Kobe & Gigi Bryant WNBA Advocacy Award for his "significant contributions to the advancement of girls' and women's basketball and advocacy for the WNBA."

“I have seen first-hand Chris’ appreciation of the WNBA and the game at every level for women and girls, especially in Phoenix and North Carolina, and his ardent support of our game strongly reflects the legacy of Kobe and Gigi,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert in a statement. “The league is proud to name Chris as the inaugural recipient of the Kobe & Gigi Bryant WNBA Advocacy Award, as he serves as a leader and role model for other professional athletes around growing the future of the game for young girls and all fans.”

The annual award honors the late Kobe Bryant, who was a devoted supporter of the WNBA and women's basketball, and his late daughter, Gianna. Both were killed in a helicopter crash in Jan. of 2020.

The Kobe and Gigi Bryant WNBA Advocacy award aims to honor advocates and influencers who use their time, talent, and platform to raise awareness for the WNBA, and women’s and girls’ basketball in various ways.

TNT also announced Sunday night that Paul has an avulsion fracture of his right thumb, which will have him sidelined for six-to-eight weeks once the regular season resumes, but he'll still play a few minutes in tonight's All-Star Game. Both teams are aware of the injury.

Donovan Mitchell, who is out with an illness, and Paul are both on Team LeBron, leaving the rest of the squad to see more minutes tonight.

"This is the only time and the only game throughout the season where I’m OK talking about my minutes," LeBron James said on Saturday.

Donovan Mitchell to miss All-Star Game as a late scratch

Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell won't play in tonight's All-Star Game due an illness that is said to be unrelated to COVID-19.

"It is a great honor and has always been a dream of mine to be selected as an All-Star," Mitchell said in a statement. "Remorsefully, I will not be able to play in tonight's All-Star Game due to an upper respiratory illness (non-COVID-related). The entire All-Star weekend is a celebration of the basketball community, the fans and the sport I am blessed to play. I'm focused on getting well and back out on the court. Thank you for the get-well wishes. I can't wait to see the game later today."

Kevin Durant will no longer be attending the league's 75th anniversary team celebration prior to the All-Star Game due to the passing of his grandmother, according to a report by The Athletic.
