Jordan James carries Oakland to 6A TSSAA football state championship repeat in win over Summit

CHATTANOOGA – New city. Same Jordan James.

And same Class 6A state champion.

Oakland defeated Summit 43-26 Saturday night at Finley Stadium in the TSSAA Class 6A state championship to wrap up BlueCross Bowl weekend.

James, a Tennessee Titans Mr. Football finalist and Georgia commitment, ran for 232 yards on 27 carries and scored two touchdowns in the win. He was the BlueCross Bowl Class 6A MVP for the second straight year.

The title was a second straight against a Williamson County program. The Patriots beat Brentwood for the 2020 title in Cookeville, which had hosted the previous 12 championships before this season.

The win completed a second straight undefeated season for the Patriots (15-0), who will enter the offseason with a 30-game win streak. The Patriots snapped Summit's 25-game win streak.

Destin Wade, a Kentucky commitment and Mr. Football finalist, was 8-of-19 passing for 137 yards with a touchdown and an interception for Summit (14-1). He also ran for 165 yards on 27 carries and had two rushing TDs.

Twin brother Keaten Wade, who is also a Mr. Football finalist and a Kentucky commitment, had 71 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries.
