No one can accuse Archbishop Hoban of ducking the competition.

In addition to games against backyard rivals Walsh Jesuit and St. Vincent-St. Mary, the Knights have played perennial Cleveland powerhouse St. Ignatius and some strong out-of-state competition this season. Hoban was up to the task each week and took a 9-0 record into the season finale against another perennial Ohio powerhouse Lakewood St. Edward on Friday night.

St. Edward came in with one loss, and both teams left with one loss as the Eagles soared to a 41-20 win over the Knights, halting their bid for an undefeated season.
