NFL DRAFT LATEST: Steelers select Anderson with third pick Saturday; Hallett goes to Jacksonville

The 2023 NFL Draft is underway!

The draft kicked off on Thursday night in Kansas City and will end on Saturday, April 29. This is the Steelers’ 88th draft and will be their 91st season.

The Steelers have three picks in the top 50: 14th overall, 32nd overall and 49th overall. Their first selection of the draft was Broderick Jones, an offensive tackle from the University of Georgia.

After a trade, the Steelers have the 93rd pick in the third round, the 132nd pick in the fourth round and the 234th and 241st picks in the seventh round.

UPDATE 6:55 PM: Pitt S Brandon Hill is heading to Houston to play for the Texans.

UPDATE 6:45 PM: The Pittsburgh Steelers have closed things out by selecting offensive tackle Spencer Anderson from Maryland as the 251st pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

UPDATE 6:20 PM: The Pittsburgh Steelers have claimed a CB back by selecting Cory Trice from Purdue as the 241st pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

UPDATE 5:30 PM: The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected CB Erick Hallett II as the 208th pick.

UPDATE 3:31 PM: Another Pitt Panther has joined the NFL.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected linebacker SirVocea Dennis with the 153rd pick.

UPDATE 2:21 PM: The New York Jets have taken another Pitt Panther in the NFL Draft, this time nabbing RB Israel Abanikanda with the 144th pick.

UPDATE 1:58 PM: With the 132nd pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Steelers have selected LB Nick Herbig from Wisconsin.

UPDATE 1:14 PM: A long-time Pitt left tackle is heading to the Big Apple.

Carter Warren was selected by the New York Jets with the 120th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Friday updates:

UPDATE 10:48 PM: The Steelers select tight end Darnell Washington as the 93rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Washington is the second player picked out of the University of Georgia by the Steelers.

UPDATE 10:04 PM: The Steelers trade down from pick No. 80 to No. 93. In exchange for trading the 80th pick with the Panthers, they will get pick No. 132 in the fourth round.

UPDATE 9:10 PM: Joey Porter Jr. has arrived in Pittsburgh and already met with media.

UPDATE 8:30 PM: The Steelers select defensive lineman Keeanu Benton as the 49th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

UPDATE 7:25 PM: Steelers players are reacting to the selection on social media. Porter Jr. is the son of former Steelers outside linebackers coach Joey Porter.

UPDATE 7:15 PM: The Pittsburgh Steelers select cornerback Joey Porter Jr., from Penn State, as the 32nd overall pick in the second round of the NFL Draft.

UPDATE 4:55 PM: Broderick Jones arrived in Pittsburgh earlier Friday where he spoke with media.

He told Channel 11′s Jenna Harner he will wear No. 77 to honor his former teammate and roommate Davin Willock, who was killed in a car accident in January.

Jones said Kenny Pickett, Najee Harris and Cam Heyward are among many new teammates who have reached out to him.

Thursday updates:

UPDATE 10:25 PM: Pitt’s Calijah Kancey is selected as the 19th overall pick in NFL Draft by Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

UPDATE 10:00 PM: The University of Georgia football team sent well wishes to Jones on social media after he was selected by the Steelers.

UPDATE 9:49 PM: The Pittsburgh Steelers select offensive tackle Broderick Jones, from the University of Georgia, as the 14th pick in the NFL Draft.

UPDATE 9:45 PM: The Pittsburgh Steelers trade up from 17th to secure the 14th pick in NFL Draft. In exchange, the New England Patriots will receive the 17th pick in the first round, as well as the 120th pick in the fourth round.
