Game recap: UCF Knights play SMU Mustangs in Wednesday game delayed by Ian
Delayed twice by Hurricane Ian, UCF finally begins its last go-round as a member of the American Athletic Conference on Wednesday night.
The Knights (3-1) host SMU (2-2) at 7 p.m., looking for its third consecutive win.
Last time out, UCF relied upon its special teams and stellar red-zone defense in a 27-10 victory over Georgia Tech. Quadric Bullard scooped up a blocked punt for a touchdown just before halftime, true freshman Colton Boomer kicked four field goals and the Knights kept the Yellow Jackets scoreless on five trips inside the 20-yard line.
John Rhys Plumlee struggled as a passer, throwing for just 49 yards and an interception, but he rushed for 100 yards and a game-sealing touchdown in the fourth quarter.
