Oklahoma Weekly Cattle Auction Summary Livestock Weighted Average Report for the week of Jan. 24 through Thursday.

Receipts: 36,646; Last report: 38,458; Last year: 26,528

Compared to last week: Feeder steers $2-$5 lower. Feeder heifers $2-$3 lower. Demand moderate for feeder cattle. Steer calves steady to $2 lower. Heifer calves sold steady to $4 higher. Demand moderate to good for calves. Much of Oklahoma remains in some level of drought with Western Oklahoma and the Panhandle seeing the worst. Snow moved across the state this week, however not really enough to put a dent in that drought. Slaughter rates continue lackluster as slaughter cattle prices move slightly lower. And to add to it Box beef seemed to hit it's ceiling and trended lower on the week. Slaughter cows sold $2-$6 higher. Slaughter bulls $5 higher. Packer demand good and improved as numbers of cows tighten. Supply included: 94% Feeder Cattle (56% Steers, 41% Heifers, 3% Bulls); 5% Slaughter Cattle (88% Cows, 12% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (1% Stock Cows, 75% Bred Cows, 1% Bred Heifers, 24% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 56%.

SLAUGHTER CATTLE

Slaughter cattle sold mostly steady to $1 lower. Dressed sales in Nebraska steady. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 77,548 head. Last week's total head count was 74,145 head.

WESTERN CORNBELT DIRECT LEAN HOG BASE PRICE

The weighted average price of packers bids on a carcass basis Friday was $84.44.

Dressed Basis: (74% yield): Feb. $87.92; April $94.92; May $99.90; June $105.77.

HOG SLAUGHTER

Federally Inspected Hogs: 2.546 million head down 4.3 percent from last year.

SHEEP SLAUGHTER

Federally Inspected Sheep/Lambs: 30,000 head down 16.7 percent from last year.

BOXED BEEF

Estimated Composite Boxed Beef Cutout Values: Friday afternoon Boxed beef cut-out values: $.45 lower from last Friday. Choice 600-900 lbs. $290.42; Select 600-900 lbs. $283.41.

MEAT PRODUCTION

Beef: 540.8 million lbs. down 2.2 percent from a year ago.

Pork: 556.9 million lbs. down 4.2 percent from a year ago.

Lamb: 2.0 million lbs. down 20 percent from a year ago.

CATTLE CARCASS WEIGHTS

National Average: This week estimate: 843 lbs.; Last week estimate 844 lbs.; Last year's actual 846 lbs.
