Livestock, LEOs and robots. Fun at the 83rd Otero County Fair

The 83rd Otero County Fair and Rodeo was open with many of the pre-pandemic amenities including animal shows, fair food, a nearly full Exhibition Building, vendors in the pavilion and Frazier Shows carnival rides and midway.

The main reason for the Otero County Fair is for students from across Otero County to show and sell their livestock.

The fair featured livestock shows in the Livestock Barn including goats, lambs, cows and cattle, to name a few.

The usual fair foods were available including ribbon fries, funnel cakes and sno cones from more professional food vendors, however, there were local groups such as the Alamogordo High School Band, Imago Dei Academy FFA and Parent Teacher Fellowship and the Holloman First Sergeants Council.

Both the Alamogordo Police Department and Otero County Sheriff's Office were in the Exhibit Building. Both had various promotional items available.

Both organizations had wheels marked with items for people to spin for including squeeze balls shaped like footballs and basketballs, pens, hats and cups.

Robotics teams were also set up in the Exhibits Building, including interactive ones where people could play with robots controlled through tablets and look at the LEGO display.

Frazier Shows was also there proving amusement rides and carnival midway for those wilinig to test their skills with carnival games.

The fair also included rodeo dances on Friday and Saturday night with the pavilion and carnival open Sunday.
