"Living Your Best Life: Dealing with Stress"

There are many people dealing with stress in today's world, finding it hard to live and deal with everyday challenges. Altrusa International of Oak Ridge is welcoming Michael Yates as the presenter for its year end program on Wednesday, May 24. He will talk on "Living Your Best Life: Dealing with Stress."

Yates joined Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services as director of development in 2014. He has over 30 years of combined experience in community behavioral health and public child welfare services, according to a news release.

Yates has over 30 years of combined experience in community behavioral health and public child welfare services. He received a Master of Divinity from Vanderbilt University in 1990. He spent two years at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital before joining the McNabb Center in 1992. He spent 12 years providing therapeutic foster care services before joining Harmony Family Center in 2004 as director of the Adoption Support and Preservation Services program, where he received the Bill Williams Award for excellence in adoption services.

Yates joined Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services as director of Development in 2014. He is also a regular contributor to the Knoxville News Sentinel, The Oak Ridger, and surrounding community newspapers. He has served on the Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church and is a former board member of the Alcoa City School Foundation and Alcoa Kiwanis Club. He is past chair of the Mental Health Association of East Tennessee Board of Directors. He is married to Ruth and has two adult children, Max and Ellie.

The in-person Altrusa meeting at the Doubletree Hotel in Oak Ridge will begin at 11:30 a.m. with time to socialize, and the buffet opening at 11:45 a.m. A short business meeting will begin at noon and the program will follow.
