Livingston woman arrested after CPS investigation reveals 1-year-old tested positive for meth

POLK COUNTY, Texas (KETK) — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said a Livingston woman was arrested on Thursday after a Child Protective Services investigation revealed a 1-year-old tested positive for methamphetamine.

According to a release, Mary Ann Burkett, 48, was arrested by narcotics detectives on a felony charge of endangering a child with criminal negligence. Officials said the infant tested positive for methamphetamines, “at levels which show the child was exposed to methamphetamine on a consistent basis.”

Burkett was taken to the Polk County Jail without incident.
