Lizzie Borden letter delivered 126 years later — to the Fall River Historical Society
An 1896 letter written by Lizzie Borden has finally reached its destination: three blocks away from her home.
According to Fall River Historical Society Curator Michael Martins, the museum has acquired a rare letter written by Borden that was recently up for sale by RR Auction of Boston. The letter, which was on sale until Oct. 12, sold for $6,970.

Westport's Bootleg BBQ goes from food trailer to restaurant
For years, Fred Melnyk has been taking his talents on the road, dishing out delicious barbecue from his trailer at local fairs and pop-up events.

More than a motto for their new startup Brands of Portugal, they say the catch phrase is a testament to their desire to share with others their love for Portugal and the rich culture and history of their antecessors’ homeland.
They started their wine and spirits importing company about a year ago, with the goal of introducing, or refamiliarizing, their customers to the wineries and distilleries of Portugal.
For them, it's all about making connections and sharing a love for Portuguese culture.

Domestic charges dropped against Fall River cop, former Somerset School Committee chair
The Bristol County District Attorney’s office has dropped domestic charges against Andrew Crook, a Fall River police lieutenant and former Somerset School Committee chairman.
According to court records, Crook, 48, of Somerset, was scheduled for a bench trial on Oct. 17 on two counts of assault and battery on a family member and threatening to commit a crime, but the charges were dismissed due to “a lack of prosecution.”

Tiverton eyed for five new commercial buildings
Industrial Way in Tiverton could get a lot more industrial.
NorthPoint Development, which owns and operates properties across the U.S., is under contract to purchase 275 acres of land from four different sellers along Progress Way, Industrial Road and Fish Road.
Tiverton's Planning Board is reviewing a concept plan by the Kansas City-based company, which proposes to construct five new commercial buildings totaling more than 1.7 million square feet.
