Lizzo Says Constant Comments About Her Weight Make Her Want To Quit Music, Says They Make Her ‘Hate The World’

Since exploding in 2019 with tracks like “Juice” and “Truth Hurts,” Lizzo has projected confidence. It’s an integral part of who she is as an artist — the 35-year-old hasn’t shied away from talking about body acceptance and the realities of navigating life as someone with a bigger body type. But it isn’t always easy for the vocalist, and earlier this week she revealed that she’s contemplating “quitting” music because of the online hate she gets about her weight.

In several tweets the Detroit native shared Wednesday, she said that the backlash she gets is making her “hate the world,” Insider reported.

“I JUST logged on the app and this is the type of s**t I see about me on a daily basis,” she wrote alongside a screenshot of a recent tweet about her weight. The tweet included a picture of the 35-year-old performing.

“How is Lizzo still THIS fat when she’s constantly moving this much on stage?! I wonder what she must be eating,” the person tweeted.

Lizzo added that comments like those make her “hate the world.”

She also noted that in the comments, a user accused her of eating “lots of fast food.” The “Special” singer, who often shares about her vegan diet on social media, said the accusation couldn’t be further from the truth.

“I LITERALLY STOPPED EATING FAST FOOD YEARS AGO…” she wrote. “I’m tired of explaining myself all the time and I just wanna get on this app w/out seeing my name in some bulls**t.”

In another tweet, the Grammy Award winner responded to another comment about her weight.

“I don’t think Lizzie wants to be smaller… yet… If she did, she would be. It’s her brand,” the comment read.

While addressing the criticism, Lizzo wrote, “This is what my body looks like even when I’m eating super clean and working out.” 

The singer also noted that her focus is on health and wellness, not being a particular size.

“I’m not trying to BE fat, I’m not trying to BE smaller. I’m literally just trying to live and be healthy,” she tweeted.

The singer had more to say about the hate she gets about her body on Twitter, and she posted several other tweets about how she’s considering cutting her career short for her peace of mind.

“I HATE IT HERE. Y’all don’t know how close I be to giving up on everyone and quitting and enjoying my money and my man on a F**KING FARM.”

In another tweet, the singer made it clear that, while she does receive love from fans, their praise is drowned out by the negative feedback she gets from her haters.

“The Love definitely do not outweigh the Hate on social media… all because I’m fat???? This is CRAZY,” she wrote.

After speaking out about the hate messages she receives, Lizzo made her Twitter account private. However, she is still public and active on Instagram. She recently shared a video of her modeling new pieces included in her inclusive shapewear line, Yitty.

“U THINK A INTERNET TROLL GON STOP MY SHINE?! HAHAAAAAAAAAAAA B***H! NEW @YITTY ON MY TIDDIES! GET U SOME RIGHT NOW 6X-XS LETS GOOOOOOOO,” she captioned the post.
