Lizzo wants Tamika Palmer to get her flowers.

At the 2022 People's Choice Awards, Lizzo, a.k.a. Melissa Jefferson, gave an acceptance speech for her win as this year's People's Champ where she introduced the names of several notable activists − including Palmer, Breonna Taylor's mom.

"Being an icon isn't about how long you've had your platform," Lizzo, the award-winning musician, said. "Being an icon is about what you do with that platform."

The "Truth Hurts" singer won the People's Champ award for her "impact on music and TV, as well as her commitment to championing diversity and inclusion," the organization said on its website. Though, Lizzo expressed hesitancy toward the award in her speech.

Lizzo shouted out 17 activists in her speech who advocate for an array of social justice issues, ranging from Odilia Romero, an "advocate and translator for the Indigenous peoples from Mexico and Central America who are now living in the United States" to Chandi Moore, an HIV and trans rights activist and community educator.

"Give them their flowers," Lizzo said to conclude "Power will always be to the people."

Even Stevie Nicks, singer from Fleetwood Mac, posted a note to Lizzo on Instagram praising the crystal flute player's speech.

"In my opinion, your presentation last night on the People's Choice Awards was not only so beautiful and so needed, that you get the award for being a great woman in our time," Nicks wrote.
