The year was undoubtedly a memorable one for sports fans in North Texas, and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram staff photographers were there to capture every moment — from the disappointment of TCU’s heartbreaking loss to Georgia in the College Football National Championship to the exhilarating World Series win by the Texas Rangers.
But it wasn’t just the drama on the field that we’ll remember from 2023. It was a year when we sang along at AT&T Stadium with superstars Taylor Swift and Beyonce, and the Queen of Country herself, Dolly Parton, at the Cowboys Thanksgiving halftime show. North Texans continued to deal with more serious issues, such as rising costs of living, debates over drag shows and the tragic toll of the fentanyl crisis. Our photographers strove to put faces to those issues and share the stories of people across our community.
Here are some of the many meaningful images captured by our staff in 2023.
