LMPD cruiser hits vehicle, sending 2 officers, 1 other driver to hospital

Two officers and another driver were taken to University of Louisville Hospital early Thursday morning after a police cruiser hit a passenger vehicle on Preston Highway, according to Louisville Metro Police.

Two officers of the LMPD Sixth Division were traveling northbound on Preston Highway at about 3:30 a.m. when they collided with a passenger car that was turning left from the southbound lanes of Preston Highway onto East Indian Trail, LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said.

Mitchell said the two officers — the driver and the passenger of the police car — and the civilian were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating the incident.
