Lobbying World: Former Fed staffer joins banking association

Kelvin Chen joined the Consumer Bankers Association as senior executive vice president and head of policy. Chen comes from Barclays U.S. Consumer Bank, where he was managing director, head of regulatory affairs and a member of the Consumer Bank’s executive committee. He also led the Federal Reserve Board’s innovation policy team and was the program manager for emerging payments at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Ellie O’Shei is joining Narrative Strategies as head of design. O’Shei was most recently director of creative strategy at the prominent GOP consulting firm Targeted Victory and was deputy creative director for the Republican National Committee.

Cornerstone Government Affairs tapped Tiffany Harvey and Patrick Hogan to join the firm’s Annapolis team as principals. Harvey was most recently Comcast’s vice president of government and regulatory affairs for Maryland and Delaware.

Hogan, who most recently served as the vice chancellor for government relations at the University System of Maryland, also was deputy legislative officer in the Office of the Governor. He also served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2003 to 2007 and again from 2011 to 2015.

The Consumer Brands Association announced Linda Rendle, CEO of The Clorox Company, will chair its board of directors effective Jan. 1. Rendle will succeed Jeff Harmening, chairman and CEO of General Mills. Mark Smucker, president and CEO of The J.M. Smucker Co., will succeed Rendle as vice chairman of the Consumer Brands board.

Roy Loewenstein joined Bryson Gillette as a director. He was most recently press secretary at the Department of Education and previously was the top spokesperson for Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.).

Aneesa McMillan joined the gun policy reform group Giffords as communications director. McMillan was most recently deputy executive director at Priorities USA.

Steve Northrup joined Global Medical Response as senior vice president of government relations and public policy. He was a founding partner at Rampy Northrup and health policy director for the Senate HELP Committee.
