Lobos trio preps for NCAA track and field championships

Jun. 10—Charlotte Prouse, Amelia Mazza-Downie and Jamari Drake will represent the University of New Mexico track and field team at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregin hat began on Wednesday.

Prouse will be the first Lobo to compete; the women's 3,000 steeplechase is Thursday at 5:02 p.m. She posted a season-best time of 9:44.99 at the NCAA West Regionals, earning her a second-place finish overall. The top 12 to finish in Thursday's race will qualify for final round on Saturday at 4:24 p.m. MT.

Drake qualified in the women's high jump, which is Saturday at 3:30 p.m. MT. She broke the UNM school record in the high jump at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open earlier this season and again at the NCAA West Regionals two weeks back at 1.82 meters (5 feet, 11.5 inches).

Freshman Mazza-Downie will compete in the women's 5,000 final Saturday at 5:55 p.m. after finishing in 10th place (16 minutes, 2.58 seconds) at the Regionals.
