Several local agencies met in Crandon Park Friday to discuss this weekend's and future water safety.
- "New at 6:00"-- safety first on the water this holiday weekend. That's the message tonight from several local law enforcement agencies. Boating traffic and accidents are up in the weeks since outdoor activities began resuming weeks ago, which is why wearing a life jacket on the water can make all the difference.
BRANDON EARHART: The data shows that life jackets save lives. Please ensure that you have appropriate life jackets on board, you have the appropriate number of life jackets for the people that are on your boat. And ensure that everyone knows how to properly use them.
- The Coast Guard also stressed that you don't drink and drive. And yes, that also applies to operating a boat.
