AURORA, IL — Boys scouts from an Aurora-based troop were up before the sun Sunday, lining local streets with American flags in observance of Flag Day. Scouts in Blackhawk Troop 11, which is chartered by the Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora, planted flags in the yards of residents throughout the region who supported their “Post the Colors” effort.
Scouts from Troop 11 placed flags in Aurora, North Aurora, Sugar Grove and Montgomery, according to a news release. The scouts placed the flags before dawn so residents would see them as they woke up and removed them after the sun had set Sunday.
Scouts will also place flags on the Fourth of July and Labor Day for residents who contribute $20 to their “Post the Colors” fundraiser.
