Spotted lanternfly detected in Muskingum

COLUMBUS − The Ohio Department of Agriculture has confirmed several new spotted lanternfly infestations across the state. In 2021, ODA designated the spotted lanternfly as a destructive plant pest and established regulations aimed at reducing the risk of spread.

Franklin, Hamilton, Lucas, Mahoning and Muskingum counties have recently been added to the list where the insect has been spotted. In regulated areas, spotted lanternfly infestations have been confirmed and inspections are increased.

Goodcity Creatives holds youth camp

ZANESVILLE − Goodcity Creatives recently held its first ever summer camp for those ages 12 to 15. The Young Creatives Digital Art Camp was held at Grace Wesleyan Church.

Students learned about creating in the digital environment using the elements of art and design, typography, budgeting considerations for a creative project, animation basics and healthy communication. A pizza party from Dominos North was at the end of the week.

Paisley Family reunion planned

CHANDLERSVILLE − The 78th annual Paisley Family Reunion will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 at the former Meigs School Building, 810 Ohio 284. Bring a covered dish and table service.

Community High School having board meeting

ZANESVILLE − The Zanesville Community High School Board of Education will meet in regular session at noon Aug. 24 at the administration office, 920 Moxahala Ave. This is a date change from previously announced.

Encino Energy makes donations

CARROLLTON − Encino Energy recently made four donations totaling $80,00 from its second annual Vendor Charity Classic golf outing and clay shooting.

Donations included $20,000 each to the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, which serves 32 counties, the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, the Brightside Project in Columbiana County and the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition.
