Register of deeds hosting holiday toy drive

DEDHAM – Norfolk County Register of Deeds William O’Donnell will accept donations of new toys and games for toddlers and children up to age 10 through noon Wednesday, Dec. 7. A donation bin is in the lobby at 649 High St., where items can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The drive will benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.

Braintree blood drive to benefit Boston Children's Hospital

BRAINTREE – A blood drive to benefit Boston Children's Hospital will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Lamacchia Realty, 222 Forbes Road. Doughnuts will be given to donors. Wakefield Arboretum to host wreath workshops in Milton

MILTON – The Mary Wakefield Arboretum will host its annual wreathmaking workshops at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, and 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at 1465 Brush Hill Road. After a demonstration, participants build and decorate their own wreaths with materials provided by the arboretum. Tickets are $50 for the general public and $30 for members. Norwood church to honor Swedish Americans

NORWOOD – Emmanuel Lutheran Church will mark the town's 125th anniversary by honoring the Swedish immigrant population who settled in Norwood in the late 1800s with a Luciafest at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, at 24 Berwick St. A Luciafest is a Christmas celebration of St. Lucia, who is honored in Sweden as a bringer of light in the darkest part of the year and a model of generosity. The event will include a Lucia pageant, a telling of the story of St. Lucia and traditional Swedish music. The pageant will be followed by a reception with baked goods and a display that highlights the history of Emmanuel, Swedesville and the town of Norwood.
