Dr. John Menard has welcomed Dr. Mark A. Tardugno to his newly renamed Clinton Dental PC practice at 6 East Park Row in Clinton.

Tardugno received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and completed his doctorate in dentistry at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, followed by a residency at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He also has received post-doctoral education on dental implantology.

A Rome native, Tardugno loves cheering for the Syracuse Orangemen and the Buffalo Bills when not in the dental office. He and his wife, Megan, recently welcomed their first child in late November.

She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Master of Science in Accountancy from the City University of New York at Baruch College. Bailey joins the tax department after interning with Dermody, Burke & Brown in 2021. She is working to complete the certification process to earn her designation as a certified public accountant. Vincent Petronio, director of hospitality programs at Mohawk Valley Community College, is now authorized to administer the Training for Intervention ProcedureS (TIPS) exam, giving students a new opportunity to earn an important industry-recognized certification in their field. TIPS, a comprehensive course designed to educate and train service professionals to safely serve alcohol, focuses on recognizing the early signs of overconsumption, strategies for cutting off guests who have had too much to drink and how to handle difficult or dangerous situations involving alcohol. Petronio, who joined MVCC’s School of Business and Hospitality in 2021, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Arts Management with a focus in beverage management at the Culinary Institute of America.

The Eastern Air Defense Sector (EADS) and the New York Air National Guard's 224th Air Defense Group (ADG) have named their annual award winners for the past year. Award recipients included Senior Airman Logan Stuckey of Rome for Outstanding Airman. A knowledge operations manager at the 224th Support Squadron, Stuckey provided 22 sexual assault prevention courses to nearly 150 Airmen, helping the unit achieve 100 percent mission readiness in this critical area. Stuckey also reorganized 27 years of historical documents as part of a records program modernization, facilitated SharePoint training for 42 members and managed the unit leave program.

The Griffiss Institute in Rome is looking for 10 teams to take part in a 12-week defense innovation program that begins in May. The competition for the 10 slots is open to startups developing defense applications for artificial intelligence/machine learning, cyber, quantum and UAS solutions with potential to improve American national security and economic competitiveness.
