Parishes in the Diocese of Youngstown are mourning the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

In addition to funeral arrangements and prayer at the Vatican, Bishop David J. Bonnar will be the principal celebrant for two diocesan masses to pray for the deceased Pope.

The first is at 4 p.m. Tuesday, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 241 S. Main St. in North Canton; the second is at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday at Cathedral of St. Columba, 154 W. Wood St. in Youngstown.

Parishes will also pray for Pope Emeritus Benedict at upcoming liturgies, according to a Diocese press release. Faithful are asked to pray for him through the traditional customary prayers of the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. The deceased Pope may also be prayed for in the recitation of the rosary.

Pope Emeritus Benedict, who'd resigned in 2013, died Saturday morning at the age of 95.

"Pope Benedict’s story is one of humble and faithful service to the Church rooted in a passionate commitment to promoting and protecting the Truth of the Gospel," the release noted.

It went on to laud his final words:

"I’m simply a pilgrim who is starting the last stage of his pilgrimage on Earth," Pope Benedict said.
