Local chocolatiers talk Valentine’s Day

PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WETM) — Valentine’s Day is less than a week away for people to buy a gift for their loved one’s. Chocolate puts people in a good mood due to the endorphins it causes the body to release in the brain when tasting it.

“Well, I think it’s one of those things that you put a good piece of chocolate in your mouth and just let it savor,” said Cynthia Dickerman, co-owner of Finger Lakes Chocolates. “It brings a smile to your face, so therefore it’s going to bring a smile to your Valentine’s face.”

Among the chocolates, dark chocolate is considered to be healthier than milk and white chocolate.

“Dark chocolate is made with less sugar and the higher the cocoa content, the better they say doctors and researchers say that it is for you overall,” said Laura Kram, co-owner of Finger Lakes Chocolates.

According to Kram, all chocolate should be avoided when given to pets since it contains cocoa, which is harmful to animals.
