Local communities partner with law enforcement to celebrate ‘National Night Out’ tonight

Tonight, some local communities plan to celebrate National Night Out in the Miami Valley.

Centerville will be holding a mystery night out by hosting a clue search throughout the city.

Registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Stubbs Park amphitheater on West Spring Valley Road.

The family-friendly event will have teams of all ages searching throughout the city for clues. Participants will have a chance to will raffle prizes.

Food vendors and carnival games will also be at the event. While supplies last, there will also be a free vent t-shirt available.

As part of this year’s campaign to raise awareness about school bus safety, the theme is “When the Lights Flash, Don’t Pass.”

Harrison Township will be holding its own night out at Shiloh Church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The community-driven event helps neighbors get to know each other and share concerns, strategies, and other ideas for a safer community.

Music, games, and an assortment of vendors will be at the event.

“We are looking forward to kicking off this nationwide event again to further enhance the relationship between law enforcement and the community for whom we serve each and every day,” said Sheriff Rob Streck.

The City of Moraine will be holding contests and giveaways to celebrate National Night Out.

The event will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at 3800 Main Street in Moraine.

There will be a coloring contest sponsored by the Moraine Police Department. Prizes include bikes and gift certificates, and the grand prize winner will get a Nintendo Switch.

The City of Franklin will be holding its night out at the Franklin Community Park from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

In the spirit of strengthening neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, this event promotes drug prevention and crime awareness.

There will be free food and drink, activities for kids, inflatables, games, arts, and grafts.

Attendees will also have the chance to see the city’s Fire Engines, SWAT vehicles, and police cruiser.

Demonstrations from Fire, Police, K-9 units, and medical equipment will be held.
