Local craft and vendor show slated for Saturday

Local artists, small business and other vendors have the opportunity monthly to sell their goods at Hillsdale Township Hall.

Samantha Dearth helps to organize the craft and vendor shows and says they are a great way to reach out to the community and for small businesses and individuals to sell books, homemade crafts and more. The August show is set for Aug. 13.

Dearth took over the event from a friend in December after she moved on to opening her business.

“A friend of mine was doing them before the pandemic, before I met her,” she said.

When Dearth started to grow her small business she had the opportunity to meet Stacy Saxton, who now owns and runs Cairns Creations in Brooklyn, a craft and vendors store.

During summer, Dearth is able to have 18 vendors set up at the event.

“I can set up 13 vendors inside and, in warmer months, I can set up five vendors outside,” she said.

Dearth said community attendance varies month to month, something she thinks largely depends on weather.

The shows are hold 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. once a month. Additional information about the date of the shows is available on Facebook at Hillsdale Township Hall, bit.ly/3SznVpt.

The hall is located  at 2985 W. Bacon Road, Hillsdale.
