Local culinary scene in spotlight with new CRVA marketing push

A new marketing campaign tied to Charlotte’s culinary scene has generated enough enthusiasm to convince its creators to make the promotional push an annual event.

“Savor Charlotte” started March 8 and ends March 22, with more than 50 restaurants, breweries and cocktail lounges participating, including several across the state line in Rock Hill and Fort Mill. Billed as a two-week celebration of local food and drink, it provides participating businesses with free promotion while allowing them creative control over what they offer: special meals or menus, how-to demonstrations and featured ingredients.

“You just have to bring your creativity and your commitment,” Gina Sheridan, chief marketing and communications officer at the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, told CBJ.

The focus is on raising awareness of the variety of offerings here, generating more trips from nearby markets and showcasing the culinary scene.
