RICHMOND, Ind. — First Financial Bank will honor World Food Day with a food drive at two local branches.

Nonperishable food items can be dropped off in Richmond at 3433 E. Main St. or Hagerstown at 102 W. Main St. during normal business hours Oct. 11 to 21, according to a news release.

“Food insecurity is an issue for people worldwide, and the problem became more severe because of the pandemic,” said Roddell McCullough, chief corporate responsibility officer for First Financial Bank, which is based in Cincinnati. “First Financial and our associates are eager to begin this local food drive and help our neighbors who do not have enough to eat.”

At the conclusion of the drive, bank will deliver the collected food to local organizations selected by each branch's associates.

World Food Day is Oct. 16. Coordinated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, it promotes awareness and action for those suffering from hunger and calls attention to the necessity for healthy diets.

This is First Financial's second community initiative this year. Branches collected and donated books to schools, libraries, churches and other organizations in April for National Financial Literacy Month.
