Just because Massachusetts didn't have any names called in the first round of the NHL Draft, that doesn't mean local residents didn't put their stamp on the remaining six rounds.
Nine Massachusetts-bred players were selected, three of whom have South Shore roots. One graduated from Hull High School just a few weeks ago.
The same can be said for a defenseman from Braintree, who didn't have to wait much time between hearing his name called by the Milton Academy administration at graduation to the Stanley Cup champs doing the same on Friday.
It was a day each player won't soon forget, as a spot on an NHL roster potentially looms in their futures. Here are the draftees from Massachusetts, with a heavy focus on Northeastern University commits:

Cameron Lund, C, Bridgewater
Drafted: Round 2, Pick 2 (No. 34 overall) to the San Jose Sharks
The 18-year-old Northeastern commit didn't have to wait very long into the second round to hear his name called. Lund totaled 25 goals and 25 assists in 62 games played for the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers.
Ryan Healey, D, Hull
Drafted: Round 4, Pick 24 (No. 121 overall) to the Minnesota Wild
In 59 games for the USHL's Sioux Falls Stampede, the 2022 Hull High School graduate compiled three goals and 18 assists. He is the son of Eric Healey, who played 12 years at the professional level, including two games for the Boston Bruins. The 18-year-old Healey is committed to play at Harvard.
Congratulations to Hull High graduate of 2022 Ryan Healey on being drafted to the NHL today!
What a moment for this young man and his family. Ryan shows if you work hard and put in the effort you can achieve your dreams!

Chris Romaine, D, Braintree
Drafted: Round 6, Pick 32 (No. 193 overall) to the Colorado Avalanche
The Milton Academy graduate is now a member of the organization that was recently crowned Stanley Cup champions. The Providence College commit scored nine goals and added 13 assists in 18 games played as a high school senior.
Here are the other Massachusetts products selected:
Jack Hughes, C, Westwood (Round 2, Pick 19, No. 51 overall) to the Los Angeles Kings
The Kings selected the 18-year-old center from Northeastern University in the middle of the second round. Hughes had seven goals and nine assists this past season, and joined Lund as the two players with Northeastern Huskies ties selected in the second round.
Michael Fisher, D, Westborough (Round 3, Pick 11, No. 76 overall) to the San Jose Sharks
Also bound for Northeastern, Fisher checks in at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds. He attended St. Mark's School (Southborough) and committed to Princeton before switching to Northeastern. Fisher is one of five future Huskies (and one current – Hughes) selected.
Ben MacDonald, C Weston (Round 3, Pick 26, No. 91 overall) to the Seattle Kraken.
The 6-foot, 180-pound center played at Noble and Greenough School (Dedham). He's committed to play at Harvard but will suit up for the BCHL's West Kelowna Warriors next.
Michael Callow, RW, South Boston (Round 5, Pick 25, No. 154 overall) to the Anaheim Ducks
Totaling 26 goals and 15 assists as a senior a St. Sebastian's School this past winter, Callow bolstered his career numbers of 37 goals and 28 assists. He looks forward to his freshman season at Harvard this winter.
Jackson Dorrington, D, North Reading (Round 6, Pick 15, No. 176 overall) to the Vancouver Canucks
The 6-foot-2, 192-pound Northeastern commit was selected in the middle of the sixth round. After playing a handful of games for the U.S. National U17 team, the former Cushing Academy (Ashburnham) defenseman played 41 games for the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL. He totaled three goals, eight assists for the Buccaneers this past season.
James Fisher, RW, Wilmington (Round 7, Pick 10, No. 203 overall) to the Columbus Blue Jackets
Better late than never: In the seventh and final round, Fisher was the last name from Northeastern's recruiting class to be selected. He played for Belmont Hill as a high school senior.
