LOCAL GOLF: Dink's men's city tourney this weekend; AWGA compete in 3-way feature

More than three decades ago, top linksters in the Bartlesville gathered to duke it out for the city golf championship.

The tradition is renewed this weekend at the Jim Curd Sr. Memorial Men's City Championship tourney sponsored by Dinks Pit BBQ.

Play is planned Saturday at Adams Golf Course and on Sunday at Hillcrest Country Club.

Curd Sr. provided a motivating force for the event which Dinks BBQ has sponsored for decades.

Last year's tourney evolved into a three-man battle between Jordan Boerio, Preston Bartley and Landon Curd.

Boerio squeezed out the title for his second city championship in 10 seasons.

He and Bartley tied at 145 at the end of 36 holes, forcing a playoff won by Boerio.

Landon Curd game in at 148 (70-78) followed by Steve Hughes at 149 (72-77).

The sites were held in reverse order last year, with HCC hosting the Saturday round and Adams providing the Sunday venue.

Other big finishers last year included First Flight winner Adam Wood (net, 146), followed by Jerome Longacre (148), Byron Flora (148) and Trey Osborne (150).

Bob Reilly claimed the Senior Flight crown (gross) with 151 (75-76).

The four senior finishers in net scoring included Bill Bridendolph (140), Don Englerbert (140), Scott Farmer (141) and Stan Bennett (141).

In 2020, Nathan Hughes powered to the championship at 146, outlasting runner-up Lynn Rowland (149), Spencer King (150), Joel Smith (150) and Boerio (150).

Chances are this year's tourney edition also will produce plenty of drama down the stretch.
