LOCAL GOLF: SCC Invitational has record turnout
Jun. 1—ORWIGSBURG — The largest field in tournament history will battle for top honors this weekend in the annual SCC Invitational at Schuylkill Country Club.
A total of 62 two-man teams will compete in the two-day, 36-hole event, which utilizes a medal-play, better-ball-of-partners format. Fifteen of those teams will compete in a new Senior Division for golfers age 55 and over that will make its debut this weekend.
The tournament, organized by the Schuylkill Country Club and the Schuylkill County Amateur Golf Committee, is open to any amateur golfer and is not limited to SCC members. The field will be broken into four regular-division flights and two Senior Division flights after Saturday's opening round. Sunday's tee times will be based on Saturday's scores.
The field is full of former Schuylkill County Match-Play, Medal-Play and Senior Division champions, including 2022 Senior Division winners Tim Wood, 2022 Medal-Play champ Nick Hand and 2020-21 Match-Play champion Albe Evans. The team of Kyle Pritchard and Scott Kalamar is the defending champion.
This year's overall champions in both divisions will receive a crystal glass trophy.
