Local graduating seniors awarded scholarships for college

MUNCIE, Ind. — Local students have received an array of college scholarships in advance of the 2022-23 academic year.

The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County announced recipients of some of the scholarships it administers:

Olivia Covert, a graduating senior at Daleville Junior-Senior High School, is the recipient of the Bobby Watters Scholarship. She plans to study physical therapy and exercise science at the University of Evansville. She is the daughter of Nathan and Christa Covert.

Shoka J. Giffin II, a graduating senior at Muncie Central High School, is the recipient of the Robert L. Thompson Scholarship. He plans to study criminal justice at Ball State University. He is the son of Shoka Griffin Sr. and WaTasha Barnes Griffin.

Madelyn Haley, a graduating senior at Delta High School, is the recipient of the Tom Devine Memorial Scholarship. She plans to study human biology and psychology at Indiana University. She is the daughter of Jennifer Haley and Christian Haley.

Lilly McFalls, a graduating senior at Yorktown High School, is the recipient of the Rex A. Waldo II Memorial Scholarship. She plans to study nursing at Indiana University. She is the daughter of Melissa Slaven and Tim McFalls.

Megan Morgan, a graduating senior at Cowan Junior-Senior High School, is a recipient of the Max V. Creviston and Nellie Cathrine Creviston Scholarship. She plans to study psychology and counseling at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Jonathan and Melanie Morgan.

Nevaeh Orr, a student at Ball State University, is the recipient of the Patricia K. and Franklyn D. Brinkman, Sr. Nursing Scholarship. Orr is studying nursing with minors in Spanish and autism spectrum disorders.

Alleigh Swift, a graduating senior at Wes-Del High School, is the recipient of the Jon Hunter Memorial Scholarship. She plans to study exercise science at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Andy and Laura Swift.

Trinity Wine, a graduating senior at Delta High School, is the recipient of a Arthur D. and Josephine M. Robling Scholarship. She plans to study pre-medicine at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Aaron Wine and Dawn Wine.

Samuel Brumley, a graduating senior at Yorktown High School, is the recipient of the Jim Leffler Memorial Scholarship. He plans to study computer science at Ball State Univetsity. He is the son of Joel and Susan Brumley.

Woodrow Elliott II, a graduating senior at Muncie Central High School, is the recipient of the Dylan T. Stafford We Before Me Scholarship. He plans to study business and health and human performance at Indiana Wesleyan University. He is the son of Woodrow and Bernisa Elliott.

Kloee Felton, a graduating senior at Wapahani High School, is the recipient of the E.K. Keesling Memorial Scholarship and the Grace K. Maring Scholarship. She plans to study clinical mental health counseling at Grace College. She is the daughter of Michael Felton and Jessica Felton.

Julia Hodes, a student at Ball State University, is the recipient of the Janice Paige Hughes Scholarship. Hodes is studying education with a focus in exceptional needs and mild interventions (K-12).

Taryn Sallee, a graduating senior at Yorktown High School, is the recipient of the Michael Brodhead Scholarship. She plans to study psychology with a minor in criminology. She is the daughter of Brady and Mandy Sallee.

Matthew Schaller, a graduating senior at Yorktown High School, is the recipient of the Carolyn A. Lucas Scholarship. He plans to study biomedical engineering at Purdue University. He is the son of Soren Schaller and Molly Schaller.

Lauren Smith, a graduating senior at Cowan Junior-Senior High School, is the recipient of the Max V. Creviston and Nellie Cathrine Creviston Scholarship. She plans to study mechanical engineering, business, and sports management at Anderson University. She is the daughter of Lori Smith and Erik Smith.

Luke Butler, a graduating senior from Wes-Del High School, is a recipient of the Jon Hunter Memorial Scholarship. He plans to study computer engineering at Purdue University. He is the son of Brad and Melissa Butler.

Elliott Godfrey, a graduating senior from Burris Laboratory School, is a recipient of the Arthur D. and Josephine M. Robling Scholarship. He plans to study urban planning and Spanish at Ball State University. He is the son of Stuart Godfrey and Sue Godfrey.

Jackson Ingenito, a graduating senior from Daleville Jr./Sr. High School, is a recipient of a Dr. William J. and Thelma V. McNabney Memorial Scholarship and the Bobby Watters Scholarship. He plans to study computer science at Purdue University. He is the son of Heather Ingenito and Christopher Ingenito.

Claire Price, a graduating senior from Wes-Del High School, is a recipient of the Zach Greenwalt Scholarship. She plans to study pre-dentistry and entrepreneurship at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Lora and Norman Price.

Shelby Sanders, a graduating senior from the Indiana Academy of Science, Mathematics and Humanities, is a recipient of the Arthur D. and Josephine M. Robling Scholarship. She plans to study psychology and developmental psychology at Aquinas College. She is the daughter of Melanie Smith-Sanders and Donald Sanders.

Farah Shohatee, a graduating senior from Yorktown High School, is a recipient of the Yorktown Lions Club Scholarship. She plans to attend Purdue University. She is the daughter of Hazim Shohatee and Amal Makki.

Grace A. Van Horn, a graduating senior from Cowan Junior-Senior High School, is a recipient of the Owen H. Ramey Memorial Scholarship. She plans to study speech pathology at Ball State University. She is the daughter of Ann and Michael Van Horn.

Aleah Wright, a student at Purdue University, is the recipient of the Charles L. Whitehair Memorial Scholarship. Wright is studying agribusiness and crop science.

The Portland Beta Theta Chapter of Tri Kappa announced that Lillian Trinidad is one of three recipients of $1,000 Fine Arts Scholarships awarded by The state organization of Tri Kappa. She will be a senior at Ball State University, majoring in Art Education.
