Local liquor options approved in Tuesday election; parties choose state committee members

Precinct voters in Galion and Crestline approved local liquor options and partisan voters selected state committee members during Tuesday's primary election.

Kim Rudd, director of the Crawford County Board of Elections, expected turnout for the year's second primary election to be "very low." According to the board's election summary, turnout was 4.79%.

The big ticket races for governor, U.S Senate and Congress were decided in May, but redistricting delays pushed the primaries for the Ohio Senate, Ohio House and party central committee seats back to August.

In Crawford County, state Rep. Riordan McClain ran unopposed on the Republican ballot, receiving 860 votes, according to final, unofficial results from the Crawford County Board of Elections website. No Democrats filed in the race for his 87th district seat.

In Galion, voters in precinct 1A approved two local liquor options for Sunday alcohol sales at Buehler's Fresh Foods, 230 Portland Way North. The vote was 39 for and 9 against on both issues.

Voters in Crestline's precinct 4A approved Sunday alcohol sales at Mi Cerrito Mexican Restaurant, 216 N. Seltzer St. The vote was 41 for and 2 against.

There were no other issues on the ballot in the county.
