Dog licenses sold

ZANESVILLE − The Muskingum County Auditor's Office has announced dog licenses are on sale for 2023.

One-year licenses are $10. A three-year license is $30 and a permanent license is $100, only available from the auditor's office and Muskingum County Dog and Kennel Office. Kennel licenses are $50 at the auditor's office only.

One-year licenses can be purchased at doglicenses.us/oh/muskingum with $2 shipping and handling fee, via a blank application at muskingumcountyauditor.org, at the auditor's office or at a satellite vendor with an additional 75 cents charge.

Satellite vendors include the Animal Shelter Society, Duncan Falls Library, Gobel Hardware in Roseville, Hanby Farms in Nashport, Maysville Do-It Center, The Mill in Dresden, Muskingum County K9 Adoption Center, John McIntire Library, Sunrise Do-It Center, Orme West in New Concord and the Frazeysburg Town Hall. East M BOE to hold special meeting

NEW CONCORD − The East Muskingum Board of Education will meet for a work session to discuss funding options at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 5 in the library of John Glenn High School, 13115 John Glenn High School Road, New Concord.

Holiday art exhibition

ZANESVILLE - Works by Yan Sun and other artists will be featured in a holiday exhibition at the Yan Sun Art Museum and Gallery, 604 Main St. An opening reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Selfie with the Elfie kicks starting

ZANESVILLE - Take a Selfie with the Elfie is every Wednesday from Nov. 30 to Dec. 21. A giant elf will appear each Wednesday at a new location in Downtown Zanesville. Take a selfie with the elf and email it to jchurch@zmchamber.com to be entered into a weekly prize drawing. Winners will be announced weekly on the Visit Zanesville Facebook page.

Animal shelter taking donations Saturday

ZANESVILLE - The third annual Santa Paws Shelter Supply Drive will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Animal Shelter Society, 1430 Newark Road.

The shelter is in need of non-scented bleach, Fabuloso cleaner, pet safe ice melt, 13-gallon trash bags, Purina brand foods, liquid laundry detergent, pill pockets, dog biscuits and cat litter. Those donating can drive through the shelter's parking lot where volunteers will gather the donations.

Food drive in New Concord

NEW CONCORD - The New Concord Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol have partnered with Riesbeck’s Food Market for an annual food drive in New Concord. The drive will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Riesbeck's, 168 W. Main St.

The food drive will benefit the College Drive Presbyterian Church food pantry. All of the food and monetary donations received will go directly to the food pantry following the event.

Riesbeck’s has pre-made $5 and $10 bags of food items specific to the needs of the pantry. Customers can select and purchase a bag and hand it to the officers in the parking lot.
