New surgeon joins Genesis

ZANESVILLE − Dr. Paul Rutowski has joined Genesis Orthopedic Group, specializing in hand and upper extremity orthopedic surgery.

He completed medical training at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton. He completed his orthopedic residency at Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus. Rutkowski advanced his orthopedic training with a hand and upper extremity fellowship at Campbell Clinic Orthopedics in Memphis, Tennessee.

Franklin Schools BOE to meet

DUNCAN FALLS − Franklin Local Board of Education will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the administrative center, 360 Cedar St., Duncan Falls. The board will have a finance work session at 5 p.m. Nov. 15 at the administrative center.

Port Authority having meeting

ZANESVILLE − The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority will meet in regular session at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the agency's office, 205 N. Fifth St.

Van Horn graduates college

SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI − Bennett Van Horn of New Concord recently graduated with honors from Missouri State University with a master's degree in geography and geology.

FAO awards scholarships

ZANESVILLE − The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio recently awarded more than $593,000 in donor established postsecondary scholarships to students across Appalachian Ohio, including seven in Muskingum County.

Blade Barclay of New Concord received the Don Coss Memorial Scholarship. He's a graduate of Cambridge High School. The scholarships is for players of the Post 84 Cambridge American Legion baseball team.

Braylon Buchanan of John Glenn High School and Caitlyn Wilson of Bishop Rosecrans High School received the AK Steel Scholarship supporting students pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering and math, with an emphasis on metallurgy.

Rebekah Gaus of Maysville High School got the Mandy McGlumphy Social Work Scholarship for those pursuing studies in the mental health field.

Vince Lin and Grace Rana of West Muskingum High School and Haylie Stemm of Philo High School earned the Bob Evans and Wayne F. White Legacy Scholarship.
